Colorado is one of the most romantic and scenic places to take your engagement photos. With towering mountains, beautiful deep green trees, vibrant fall foliage and dynamic cities, you’ll easily find a perfect place to capture photos that tell your love story.
Downtown Denver
Downtown Denver has a variety of textured, city backgrounds. From Union Station to the ever-popular River North Art District (RiNo) neighborhood, you and your fiancé can have so much fun strolling around this city taking engagement photos. You’ll quickly find industrial buildings, colorful murals, rustic red brick walls, cute benches, and many other engagement photo locations. And conveniently, they’re all within walking distance. Plus, with Denver’s many galleries, lounges, food trucks and restaurants, you might end up sticking around for a date, too.
Lost Gulch Overlook
The Lost Gulch Overlook requires a scenic drive up Flagstaff Road, with views of the plains and the Rocky Mountain National Park. Its jutting rocks and on-top-of-the-world looks create a gorgeous engagement location. Just picture deep blue and wispy cloud vistas, snowy peaks and forest greens. You and your fiancé can cuddle up on cool, gray rocks. Most importantly, it’ll be an experience you won’t forget, allowing you to easily capture genuine photos of your interactions together.
Alderfer/Three Sisters Park
It’s known for hiking and other adventurous mountain activities, but Alderfer/Three Sisters Park is also the perfect place to take engagement pictures. Winding dirt paths and moody, tall ponderosa pine trees will create a romantic atmosphere. Go ahead — take a look at a photo here from Jefferson County. It’s about 40 minutes from Denver, and is worth the drive!
Maroon Bells
The Maroon Bells are an iconic set of peaks in the Elk Mountains. The stark contrast in colors throughout the year mixed with the sparkling water below make for a jaw-dropping engagement backdrop. Picture you and your loved one standing next to the reflecting water. Visualize the two of you wandering around with the dazzling backdrops of the Maroon Peak and North Maroon Peak. With water, forests and mountains, this location will provide a spectacular range of backgrounds for your engagement photos. The road closes in the winter, but it’s an easily accessible location the rest of the year. We have to warn you — it’s a five hour drive from Denver! If you want a similar cool toned look with a beautiful wilderness backdrop, St. Mary’s Glacier is only an hour west of Denver!
Mount Sanitas Trailhead
45 minutes northwest of Denver, this hiking trailhead is known to have striking wildflowers in the spring. The rest of the year, you can find spots on the trail with beautiful red rock, faded tall grass and noble green trees. It’s a great place to explore and have some laughs while you take photos in preparation for your wedding day.
