January and February are filled with opportunities to think about your wedding. The New Year signals the start of crunch time for June brides, while giving a bench mark for those just beginning to plan.

The wedding industry has made the planning timeline a little more efficient by organizing wedding expos across the country, bringing together local vendors with the purpose of making it easier to connect with couples.

Despite the intention of making things easier, expos can be slightly overwhelming. There are hundreds of people moving from vendor to vendor, and there isn’t a lot of time to stop and discuss details.

These ladies are teaming up to plan a wedding at the Z102.9 Bridal Showcase in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Make the most of your next Expo, and prepare yourself with these tips:

1.) Know what you’re looking for.

Expos are a great place for inspiration, but it’s good to have a general list of things you’re looking for. Before you go, write down the services that you want (i.e. invitations, photo booth, catering, etc.) and then refer to your list often, making sure to gather as much information as possible.

2.) Use the buddy system.

Invite your fiancé, family member, or friend to attend the expo with you. They can help you keep track of what you’re looking for, hold extra business cards, and give input on samples and other decisions. Not to mention, wedding expos are FUN! Wedding vendors know how to party – we’ve made a profession out of helping others celebrate. So bring someone along and get the wedding pre-party started!

3.) Take notes and get organized.

You will be given all kinds of pamphlets and business cards filled with information about each vendor. If you see something you like, circle it. Make a note. Take your information home and put it in a binder. Then, when you’re desperate to remember the name of the caterer who makes that Philly cheesesteak that’s to die for, you’ll know.
